Aston Villa manager Dean Smith says clubs like Manchester United "can keep looking but they can't touch" Jack Grealish amid intense transfer rumours.

United are reportedly weighing up an offer for Grealish this January transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to reinforce his side ahead of the second half of the season.

But Smith has ruled out Grealish leaving the Midlands outfit this month as the 24-year-old is vital to the club's plans to stay in the Premier League.

"He's a big target for many teams," the Villa boss explained. "Our owners are very ambitious in establishing us as a top Premier League club; to do that you need to keep your best players.

"People can keep looking but they can't touch. We want to keep our best players and he's showing he's one of the best in the Premier League."

Grealish has enjoyed a superb campaign for Villa this season, chipping in with six league goals including a stunning strike at Old Trafford and he's described his goal against United as his favourite goal ever.

'That was my favourite goal ever. Scoring at Old Trafford... I've always wanted to play at Old Trafford," Grealish revealed.

"I've played there before in a reserve cup final but it's not the same when it's like that. That's obviously my favourite ground in the Premier League.

"It was one of them, as soon as I shot I knew it was going into the top corner and I couldn't have hit it any better."
