David De Gea has just gifted Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal a second goal in the Group B clash in Sochi with a Rob Green-esque howler.
A touch inside from Goncalo Guedes saw the ball drop to Ronaldo on his left foot and though he caught his strike with some serious power, it ought to have been a routine stop for your average goalkeeper, never mind one who is deemed to be one of their very best in the world by many.
But De Gea, who produced a bad error in a recent qualifier against Switzerland, fumbled the ball into his own net as if he was doing his best Massimo Taibi impression.
The mistake came on the same day that Manchester United fans celebrated news that Spain's No.1 had agreed a new five-year contract with the club.

Needless to say, the rare gaffe from DDG prompted reaction aplenty on social media:
The 27-year old's mistake was just one of several key moments in a pulsating contest between two top sides, with absolutely no-one in denial that they are serving up an early game of the tournament contender.
