Kevin De Bruyne has always has ambitions to play in the Premier League, but when was younger he dreamed of playing for a different team other than Manchester City.

The Belgian, who has arguably been the best player in the Premier League this season and is currently the division's top assister, was actually a fan of Liverpool, City's next opponents, as a youngster.

Here's De Bruyne picking his 2016/17 Team of the Season:

The admission from De Bruyne was from a very old interview he gave when he was just a little kid which is now doing the rounds.

The former Chelsea player declared his love for Liverpool and his dream of playing there, as well as picking out Michael Owen as his favourite player.

Speaking in Flemish, De Bruyne said:

"My favourite club is Liverpool and my favourite player is Michael Owen and I would love to play there one day."

Things have changed a whole lot since then though, and De Bruyne will be looking to stamp his authority on yet another big game this season when City's table-toppers travel to Anfield on Sunday.

In the reverse fixture, as he has been in the vast majority of City's games this season, De Bruyne was sensational - chipping in with two sublime assists in a 5-0 drubbing for City.

City going into the game looking to end an atrocious 15-year run without a win at Anfield - with a 1-0 Nicolas Anelka inspired win in 2003 the last time the Blues beat Liverpool on their own patch.

De Bruyne isn't thinking about that record but wants to continue City's dominant start in the Premier League.

"We don't care about that," he is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

"It is just the way football goes. We go there to win the game.

"They will have a very strong team, they want to be there for the Champions League, but we just try to do the things we do good and then we will see what happens."

How do you see Sunday's big game going?
