Data analysts have predicted the final Premier League table and they reckon Manchester City will claim a third consecutive title at the end of 2019/20.

FiveThirtyEight.com use their in-depth data in a variety of different categories and situations. According to their official website, "every team has an offensive rating that represents the number of goals it would be expected to score against an average team on a neutral field, and a defensive rating that represents the number of goals it would be expected to concede.

"These ratings, in turn, produce an overall SPI rating, which represents the percentage of available points. A win is worth 3 points, a tie worth 1 point, and a loss worth 0 points - the team would be expected to take if that match were played over and over again."

And using that information for the current campaign, they give City a 61% chance of retaining the title - while last season's runners up Liverpool boast a probability of just 27%.

Tottenham occupy third, while interestingly Chelsea take the final Champions League spot ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal despite the general consensus being that a season of transition for Frank Lampard's side.

Everton, Leicester City, Wolves and Crystal Palace complete the top ten, with all the sides that were promoted heading back down to the Championship at the first time of asking.

The predictions aren't all that different to what BT Sport have estimated as part of their season scripting.

Enlisting the help of Squawka, Opta and Google to do some serious number-crunching, their super-computer also has City to win the title, Tottenham and Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League and both Norwich and Sheffield United to go down - though they predict Newcastle will be relegated instead of Aston Villa.

Mohamed Salah wins the Golden Boot for the third consecutive season after hitting 29 goals in the league, while it's Ederson who narrowly edges out his compatriot Alisson in the Golden Glove race.
