Cristiano Ronaldo may be rewarded with a new pair of boots every time he does so much as use a slightly different filter than usual on Instagram, but the Portugal captain's latest pair of kicks have a pretty poignant message behind them.
Individually, Ronaldo may have achieved his greatest successes at Real Madrid, but it was the six seasons the Portuguese phenom spent as a Manchester United player that were most important to the four time Ballon d'Or winner.
And the new boots Nike have designed for the former United man pay homage to his time at Old Trafford.

Under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson, Ronaldo evolved from a show pony to a thoroughbred, helping to deliver three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and a Champions League to Old Trafford, before moving to Real in a world record breaking £80m deal, in 2009.
The new boots that the American sportswear behemoth have designed for the 31-year-old are currently going by the title 'Cristiano Ronaldo's CR7 Chapter 4: Forged for Greatness boots.'

The boots have a "molten-esque orange and red gradients on the plate transition into metallic tones of the colour-shifting upper" which contain a nod as to how Ronaldo was awarded the esteemed number seven shirt at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Nike Football, Ronaldo said, "In the five years that I was (at Man United), I learned the art of football.
"Alex Ferguson said to me: 'Listen, I want you to take number seven.' I was surprised because I knew the guys who had worn that shirt."
Ronaldo made a total of 292 appearances for United, scoring 118 goals.
