Cristiano Ronaldo Doesn't Think Griezmann Was Euro 2016's Star Player

The Portugal captain thinks another player was more impressive

Cristiano Ronaldo has stoked the fire of divide between Real Madrid and city rivals Atletico as the La Liga season gets underway, by claiming Antoine Griezmann wasn't the best player at Euro 2016.

Atletico striker Griezmann was awarded the best player award at this summer's tournament in his home country France, after finishing with six goals and two assists as his side reached the final.

But, of course, the French lost the final to Ronaldo Portugal after extra-time, and the Real Madrid superstar reckons that Griezmann's gong should have been handed out to Pepe instead.

Speaking to UEFA.com, via Goal, Ronaldo said: "In my book, Pepe was extraordinary this year. He was undoubtedly Portugal's best player and one of Real Madrid's best players in the Champions League.

"I'm delighted he was selected in the Team of the Tournament at the Euros - in my opinion Pepe was the best player at the Euros."

Ronaldo could be further outraged on Thursday after the award for UEFA's Best Player in Europe is given out, as the 31-year-old has been nominated along with Madrid colleague Gareth Bale and Griezmann.

We have no idea who'll take home that accolade, but one thing's for sure: If it's not Ronaldo, he'll have something to say about it.

What do you make of Ronnie's comments? Is he right? Was Pepe the best player at the Euros? Have your say in the comments section below and on Facebook.
