Antonio Conte is under police protection after receiving a threatening letter containing a bullet.

Reports in Italy claim the Inter boss was sent an anonymous letter which contained a bullet and a number of threats.

Police are said to be investigating the incident and will test the envelope for fingerprints in a bid to discover the identity of the person.

As a result, Conte has stepped up security at his family home and at the club's training ground. Video surveillance is set to be analysed in case of another delivery.

Extra surveillance cameras will be installed in and around Inter's base.

The understanding is that it could be an attention seeker and the threats are not serious, but both Conte and the club are said to have been warned to be vigilant.

Several political figures in Italy have been sent similar letters through the post including Silvio Berlusconi, the country's former prime minister.

The Italian manager joined Inter in the summer and his team are one point behind Serie A leaders Juventus. From Inter's 12 league games, they've accumulated 31 points.

Inter are also third in their Champions League group, behind Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund as they face a fight to qualify for the last 16.
