The press conference between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov ahead of their UFC 229 fight on October 6 did not disappoint.

Even though it was slightly strange having no fans in attendance, as with ever McGregor presser, it made for incredible viewing.

'The Notorious' did his research and called Khabib out for his links to Russian ruler Ziyavudin Magomedov and Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, barely allowing his upcoming opponent to get a word in on his birthday.

He roasted him over the bus incident that saw McGregor arrested and plugged his own Irish whiskey throughout - even trying to get Khabib, a non-drinker to have a glass.

Then, after questions had been fielded from questions and McGregor had unloaded on several expletive-filled rants in between calmly talking about his preparation for this bout, we got the face-off to close it out.

And in footage posted on Dana White's Twitter, you get a fascinating behind the scenes insight in the square-up.

Plus, you hear exactly what the former two-weight champ had to say to the Russian in the intense stare-down, and then Ali Abdelaziz, Khabib's manager, when he piped up.

"Shut your mouth, Ali Abdelaziz," McGregor fumed.

"You terrorist snitch! I know a lot about you as well, you mad man. I know a lot about you as well! You keep your mouth shut kid! How's Noah? How's Noah? Yeah, shut your mouth! Never speak about me, ever in your life! Watch yourself around me, 'cause you'll be out of here quick."

To finish it all off, the Irishman told media to take pictures of him and his two belts (they aren't technically he is but he does what he wants).

October 6 cannot come soon enough.
