Compilation Of Bruno Fernandes Not Turning Up In Big Games Is Brutal

Bruno Fernandes has yet to score from open play against a 'top six' Premier League side.

Bruno Fernandes has been rinsed for his big game performances in a brutal compilation video.

The Portuguese midfielder has had a transformative effect on Manchester United ever since he arrived for £55 million in January last year but he was below par last night as the Red Devils were outclassed by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final at Old Trafford.

Apart from an effort saved by Zack Steffen in the first half, Fernandes' contributions were virtually non-existent and he was especially poor in the 2-0 defeat.

And one fan decided to mock the former Sporting CP man by creating a two minute video of him not turning up in the big games.

It's a series of clips where Fernandes gives the ball away cheaply, fires shots wide or high from distance and is easily dispossessed by opposition players.

It's a little harsh on Fernandes given how good he has been for United but it's true that his statistics in the big games haven't been great.

In ten appearances against the Premier League's 'big six', Fernandes has assisted two and scored three times but all were penalties - two against Spurs and one against Chelsea.

Last night, former United skipper Roy Keane said the 26-year-old needed to do more in big games as he played down comparisons to Eric Cantona.

"It's not easy winning football trophies," Keane said post-match Sky Sports.

"Fernandes has had great praise for the last few months and people have been comparing him to [Eric] Cantona etc. Fernandes didn't really do much tonight.

"The top players turn up on the big occasions. And that's what the Cantonas used to do - they get their hands on trophies. That's where this team are a little bit short."
