Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have enjoyed, or perhaps endured, a somewhat turbulent relationship during their time in management.

The pair have often found themselves side by side on the touchline, battling to become the very best, but which players have enjoyed, or perhaps endured, time under their management?

Alexis Sanchez is set to become the 12th player to star under Guardiola and Mourinho. Here are the other 11:

Xabi Alonso spent three seasons playing under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2012. He also spent two years under Pep Guardiola at German champions Bayern Munich between 2014 and 2016.

Cesc Fabregas spent time with Jose Mourinho during his time at Chelsea. He won a Premier League title in his first season at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard also spent one season under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, but didn't start as much as he would have hoped.

Bastian Schweinsteiger spent a season under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, but was demoted to train with the under-23's among other bad experiences. He did, however, enjoy three seasons with Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic flourished under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan and followed him to Manchester United later in his career. He didn't exactly enjoy his spell with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona. He once said "Jose Mourinho is Guardiola's opposite. If Mourinho brightens up the room, Guardiola pulls down the curtains."

Arjen Robben spent a hugely successful two year spell at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, winning back-to-back Premier League titles. He enjoyed similar success at Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola.

Kevin de Bruyne's story is perhaps the most interesting of them all. He made just nine appearances under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, while his current time under Pep Guardiola has been nothing short of spectacular. He is now named one of the best midfielders in world football.

Samuel Eto'o enjoyed two spells under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan and Chelsea, while he didn't enjoy a great spell under Pep Guardiola in arguably one of the best teams in decades during his time at Barcelona. He spent just one season at the Camp Nou.

Eidur Gudjohnsen is another player who spent time with both managers. He was key in Jose Mourinho's first season at Stamford Bridge, but he didn't exactly enjoy huge success under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, however his influence undoubtedly helped the Catalan side during his spell at the Camp Nou.

Pedro spent a small amount of time under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea during the 2014/15 season, while the Spaniard kick started his career under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, winning two Champions League titles in the process.

Maxwell, the most successful club footballer of all time, spent one season under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, but produced consistent performances throughout. He didn't spend much time in the first team at Barcelona under Pep Guardiola, but still won two La Liga titles.

Finally, Claudio Pizarro was Jose Mourinho's first signing as Chelsea manager but the Peruvian struggled to hit form during his time in the Premier League. He didn't produce the goods under Pep Guardiola at Bayern either, but it was towards the end of his career.
