Things have been going swimmingly for Leicester City since they sacked Claudio Ranieri.

Assistant boss Craig Shakespeare assumed the reigns and the Foxes have won four games on the bounce, including beating Sevilla 2-0 at the King Power Stadium and becoming the only English side to qualify for the Champions Legaue quarter finals.

The decision to sack Ranieri was criticised by many given what he had achieved less than a year earlier, but the change has clearly had a positive effect on Leicester and they now look good value to avoid relegation.

Sky Sports aired a particularly emotional tribute video package to Ranieri:

However, there is no way any Leicester City fan is brushing aside Ranieri's unbelievable achievement of guiding Leicester to a near-impossible Premier League title win last season.

And those in Italy are still celebrating and commemorating their compatriot's success.

Ranieri is to be given a Golden Bench by the Italian FA after leading Leicester to the Premier League title, against all odds.

The Italian FA, FIGC, revealed the news:

"During the ceremony a special Golden Bench will be given to Claudio Ranieri, the protagonist of the extraordinary journey by Leicester, with whom he won the Premier League."

The event takes place at Italy's training complex on Monday and will be the latest in a number of personal accolades and highlights for Ranieri.

He won both the FIFA Coach of the Year award and BBC Sports Personality Coach of the Year and there was talk of him being honoured in his home City of Rome.

The 65-year old grew up in Rome and went on to play for and manage his beloved AS Roma and now he will receive a prestigious honour from the Capital city.

Daniele Frongia, head of the sport commission heaped praise and confirmed the award for Ranieri.

She said:

"We've invited Claudio Ranieri to Campidoglio to confer upon him an award on behalf of mayor [Virginia] Raggi and the administration for the work he did at Leicester, culminating in the historic Premier League triumph and getting through the group stage of the Champions League.

"Ranieri, a Roman born and raised in San Saba and Testaccio, rewrote the history of a team which gained proud British, Italian and Roman fans around the world."

Meanwhile, Ranieri has been linked with a quick return to management.

Corriere dello Sport (via Marca) report that Palermo are lining up a move for Ranieri.

Diego Lopez is currently manager of the Sicilian outfit and the fourth manager that the club have had so far this season but it looks like Lopez' time is running out at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Maurizio Zamparini was owner of the club for the past 15 years and went through 40 managers in his time but last month he stepped down.

President Baccaglini is ready to spend big to improve the club and if Ranieri is to get the manager's job then the plan would be to allow him to take charge in Serie B if he can't save them from relegation.

The irony of Ranieri getting relegated and being able to keep his job ey!

Good luck Claudio, you bloody deserve it!
