Claudio Ranieri has paid tribute to Jamie Vardy after the transfer saga which ended with Vardy remaining at the King Power stadium and opting against a move to Arsenal.
The Gunners had triggered Vardy's £20m release clause and seemed destined to sign the England international until the former Fleetwood Town striker had a change of heart, deciding to stay with the Premier League champions and enjoying their first ever season of Champions League football.
Ranieri has praised Vardy's decision, with the striker signing a new £100,000-a-week contract at the King Power stadium, £20,000-a-week less than what his deal at Arsenal would have been.

"Maybe it is because he started from the bottom and now we are his family."
"It is the first time in the Champions League too and he wants to stay together.
"He enjoys it here. He is a king and he is happy. He made a fantastic choice. I believe in the man."

However, despite Vardy pledging his future to the champions, Ranieri looks like he'll have to start planning for life after N'Golo Kante, with the French midfielder seemingly on his way to Chelsea, after the Blues tabled a bid in the region of £29m for the Foxes man.
