Leicester City may have picked up their first victory of the season, with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City, this afternoon, but the three points came at a cost, with manager Claudio Ranieri confirming in a post-match interview that goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will require an operation after being forced off in the second half with an injury.

Schmeichel was replaced on the hour mark by substitute 'keeper Ron-Robert Zieler and Ranieri explained that the Danish shot stopper will undergo surgery for a hernia. Speaking to The Leicester Mercury, Ranieri said:

"He played in the last month with a little hernia. Monday he will have an operation."

"It was in the programme for Monday. We wanted him to play and he wanted to play and after he felt something and changed."

With the Foxes inaugural Champions League campaign set to begin in a few weeks, Ranieri will be hoping Schmeichel can make a speedy recovery from his surgery.
