Chelsea are making a tidy profit on Mario Pasalic, the Croatian midfielder who is being sold for around €15 million euros after not playing single game in six years for the Blues.

Pasalic was signed back in 2014 from Hajduk Split for a fee in the region of £3 million. He was quickly sent on loan to La Liga side Elche and then had further temporary moves away at Monaco, AC Milan and Spartak Moscow.

The 25-year old has excelled in two seasons on loan with Atalanta, who will now take up the option to purchase him permanently.

It's common practice for Chelsea, who have been highly successful adopting a model whereby they sign players for cheap, loan them out and eventually command a higher fee.

Midfielder Pasalic has made 32 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta this season, scoring seven goals.

He's also been a key part of the Bergamo club's superb debut run in this year's Champions League.

Atalanta have made the quarter finals following a stunning 8-4 aggregate win over Valencia in the round of 16 prior to COVID-19 temporarily halting the competition's progress.
