Reports surfaced last week that Antonio Conte was not happy with Chelsea's transfer activity so far, but it seems as though the Premier League winners do already have a signing wrapped up, and are merely waiting to formally announce it.

During the past week, reports have claimed that Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with for Willy Caballero, who was one of several players released by Manchester City in a mass clear-out by the club.

The former Malaga shot-stopper arrived in English football in 2014 and after some initial shaky displays, ended up forming a strong connection with the City faithful thanks to his penalty-saving heroics that won City the League Cup against Liverpool at Wembley in 2016, coupled with the inept displays from Claudio Bravo last term.

For a period last season, Caballero dislodged Bravo in between the sticks and finished the season in goal following the Chilean's calf injury suffered in the Manchester derby in April.

But he was not offered a deal and is therefore free to move on this summer. Newly-promoted Newcastle have been heavily linked with bringing him, but the London Evening Standard are reporting that Chelsea have already clinched a deal for one of their summer targets.

Although there's no official confirmation, it's believed that Caballero is the 'mystery signing' Chelsea will officially announce on July 1 when the transfer window opens.

Should the 35-year old join Chelsea as expected, he will slot in as understudy to Thibaut Courtois, effectively replacing Asmir Begovic, who has moved to Bournemouth.

The Bosnian goalkeeper, who commanded a fee of £10 million to sign for Eddie Howe's side, doesn't appear to be a fan of the Caballero signing judging by his Twitter activity.

The 29-year-old liked a pair of tweets that questioned Chelsea's pursuit of the Argentine, claiming that the Premier League champions could do much better.

Chelsea fans, would you be pleased with having Caballero as back-up to Courtois for the forthcoming season?
