Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri wants to add a new attacking threat to his squad and has turned his attention to a Paris Saint-Germain star.

The 59-year-old former Napoli boss has made a solid start to life at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues in fourth place and three points clear of fifth-place Arsenal.

Sarri will want to end the Premier League campaign on a high note, securing Champions League football for next season.

According to the Daily Express, Chelsea are preparing a £50m bid for Edinson Cavani.

The London club have struggled without a consistent striker in the starting XI, with Álvaro Morata linked with a move away from the club and Olivier Giroud out of contract at the end of the season.

The newspaper claims that Chelsea will face tough competition for Cavani, with different clubs in China weighing up a move for him.

PSG signed the 31-year-old Uruguay international from Napoli for a reported fee of €64m in 2013.

The PSG striker has made 175 appearances for the reigning Ligue 1 champions and has scored 126 times.

While Chelsea will move ahead with the £50m bid, PSG will most likely reject the initial move for the player.

After all, Cavani is an integral part of PSG's trident attack force and Thomas Tuchel will want to keep him for the next phase of their Champions League campaign.

Peter Crouch recently suggested that Sarri should "break the bank" to sign former striker Diego Costa.

"Diego Costa would absolutely transform Chelsea's fortunes and, if it was down to me, I'd break the bank to re-sign him," he wrote for the Daily Mail.

"You can talk about Gonzalo Higuaín or Karim Benzema, but I think Costa would be the one to take Chelsea where they want to be."

Should Chelsea sign Costa or Cavani?
