The Champions League Team Of The Season Has Been Revealed, Features Shock Premier League Player

It's dominated by Bayern Munich, but there are a couple of surprise inclusions...

The Champions League Team of the Season has been revealed and it's no surprise to see Bayern Munich dominate the XI.

Bayern won the competition on Sunday evening after defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

WhoScored have since revealed the best players in the tournament based on stats and five of the German outfit's players make the side.

Some of those include teenage sensation Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry as well as the lethal Robert Lewandowski.

Three PSG players are included and Neymar makes the team, but there is no place for Kylian Mbappe. Lionel Messi is the sole Barcelona player after their humiliating exit in the quarter-finals.

While Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus is a shock inclusion up front as the Premier League's only representative.

Lewandowski tops the rankings overall with a 9.03 rating and he had one of the best seasons of his life.

The 32-year-old netted 55 goals this campaign, with 15 of those coming in the Champions League.

Following the final, he took to Instagram to post a poignant message telling fans to "never give up."

"Never stop dreaming. Never give up when you fail," he begun.

"Work hard to achieve your goal. Thank you for your support, for believing in our abilities. We are the Champions of Europe!"

One player who has worked hard to achieve his goals is Davies who won the Champions League in just his eighth game in the competition.

"Coming to Europe and winning the Champions League with a great club like Bayern is everything I can ask for," the Canadian international told BT Sport.

"It shows the team I have around me, helping me every time I play; they play really well in the Champions League and being able to play here is amazing for me.

"My story, it just goes to show if you set your mind to it you can do anything. I'm happy to have the medal around my neck and the trophy by my side."
