Casemiro Cancelled His Family Holiday To Disney World After Defeat To Atletico Madrid

Some would call this elite mentality...

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has revealed he cancelled his family holiday to Disney World following a friendly defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Back in July, Atleti thrashed their city rivals 7-3 in the first Madrid derby to take place in the United States.

Diego Costa scored four and was sent off for sparking a 22-man brawl alongside Dani Carvajal in the crazy 10-goal thriller across the pond, with Atleti's record signing Joao Felix also on the scoresheet along with Angel Correa and Vitolo

Diego Simeone's side were 6-0 up before Real replied through Nacho Fernandez on the hour mark and they were then leading by a staggering 7-1 scoreline with 20 minutes remaining.

Even for a friendly, it was a demoralising defeat for Los Blancos and Casemiro, who was on a break after helping Brazil win the Copa America on home soil, decided he had to return to training quicker than anticipated and it came at the expense of some quality family time.

"I saw my team lose 7-3 in the preseason against Atlético Madrid, and I had decided that I couldn't continue my vacation & go to Disney World," Casemiro said on radio show Onda Cero.

"So I told my daughter that 'Dad has a problem at work, and I have to cancel the vacation'. That's the reason why I returned earlier than expected."

You've got to feel for his daughter but on the flip side it shows some serious mentality from Casemiro, who is easily one of the best midfielders in world football.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have more ability in the locker but it's the Brazilian who gives them the licence to work their magic.

He added: "For me, the goal is to steal the ball and the Bernabeu celebrates it in the same way. You enjoy football just as much in every position, my goal is to steal the ball. I enjoy stealing the ball and helping my team-mates."
