Legendary right-back Cafu is backing his fellow compatriot Neymar to eventually overtake both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the worlds best player.

Real Madrid's Ronaldo edged out Neymar's club colleague, Messi, to the FIFA 'Best' player of 2016 not to mention bagging the Ballon d'Or, too.

But during last nights gala in Zurich, Switzerland, the two-time World Cup winner went on record to praise Neymar as well as tipping him to achieve greatness.

Cafu feels Neymar is already neck-and-neck with the pair of footballing demi-gods but will eventually surpass them; "Neymar is not far from them." He said via Goal.

Continuing by saying in the next few years, the 24-year-old will come into his own; "I'm sure in the next few years he'll be playing as the best in the world."

And he also weighed-in on the Ronaldo-Messi debate, which remains fierce, by detailing that the two will continue their dominance;

"It is a dispute of many years. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are the two who stand out in the world. This year, again, will be Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi."

While giving the upper hand to Ronaldo; "I think Cristiano Ronaldo has an advantage because he had a regularity all year round."

What do you reckon, will Neymar break up the Ronaldo-Messi dominance?
