Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that his club would regularly finish in the Premier League's top-four Champions League places - and reckons that's why English clubs feel threatened by the Hoops.

Rodgers watched from his Pakrhead dugout last night as his fierce Celtic stars took Pep Guardiola's unbeaten Man City side all the way in the Champions League, eventually drawing 3-3 in front of an enthralled 60,000 crowd.

The atmosphere generated in Glasgow's east end was a far cry from home games City have encountered at their Etihad Stadium in the competition over the past few years.

And Rodgers insists the night's work proves Celtic could compete at the top of English football if they were ever given the opportunity to move south.

Speaking in his weekly press conference on Thursday afternoon, via the Evening Times, the Northern Irishman said:

"Make no bones about it. If Celtic are in England, Celtic are one of the top four/six clubs there.

"So can you imagine then the resources playing at that level, what that would produce for Celtic. It could go as far as it wants then. For Celtic to be in the English pyramid system is very tough because of the size of the club.

"We have the history, huge club, fan base, team, stadium, it would be a frightening prospect and an exciting prospect if it ever happened but for others looking through it would be very difficult to accept."

"If you are another club playing in that (Premier) league or the Championship or League One, would you like that type of threat coming in to possibly stop you coming into the league? I don't think you would want it and that is the reality. So I think it is always going to be difficult to get that across."

It's an age-old debate, but what do you make of Rodgers' comments? Are Celtic a major threat to every Premier League club? And would they really break into the top four?
