Jose Mourinho has officially been appointed as Manchester United's manager.

Mourinho takes over from Louis van Gaal who was sacked earlier in the week, less than 48 hours after winning the FA Cup. The Dutchman came under intense scrutiny by the media and his own fans for his style of play. United finished 5th in the Premier League, once again without Champions League football.

The Portuguese, who has had two previous stints in the Premier League, has been out of work since parting company with Chelsea in December 2015, after steering Chelsea to another Premier League title.

Speculation of potential transfers has been rampant with out-of-contract Zlatan Ibrahimovic heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, among others.
