Good news pop pickers, you can bet on 'The Captain' Bootlegger to become the next permanent Wrexham manager.

The Red Dragons sacked Bryan Hughes on Wednesday night with Wrexham lurched in the relegation zone after going eight games without a win.

Candidates in the frame for the vacant manager's job includes Dean Keates, Andy Morrison, Graham Keates, Kevin Nolan, Roy Keane, Dean Saunders and Sol Campbell.

But don't rule out Bootlegger. He's the outside bet at 500/1 but the Pilsner-drinking viral sensation has the biggest connection to Wrexham of all of those linked because he travels far and wide following them.

The Welsh scaffolder has amassed over 177,000 followers on Twitter after posting various videos of him sinking pints and attending Wrexham games, become a huge hit thanks to catchphrases such as "I've had an absolute grueller" and "It's gonna get tasty baby".

If you're on Twitter you will have seen his face and heard his dulcet tones at least 36 times a day and now the main man is just about in the running for his dream job.

Paddy Power have a knack for offering silly specials. Last year you could get odds of 500/1 for Theresa May to become Manchester United's new Director of Football and they paid out to the one crazy punter who stuck a fiver on it happening.

The Irish bookies firm were also taking bets on Ant and Dec becoming joint managers of Newcastle when Rafa Benitez resigned in June.
