Eight people from Boca Juniors were arrested on Monday night, after players and staff clashed with police following their elimination from the Copa Libertadores.

Boca drew 0-0 with Atletico Mineiro in Brazil on Monday, meaning both legs in the last 16 tie ended goalless, before the hosts won through on penalties.

The Argentine side were annoyed after a controversial VAR decision went against them for the second tie in-a-row, before their eventual elimination.

Anger and annoyance at being knocked out of the competition led to ugly scenes in the stadium post match, as Boca players tried to gain access into the Mineiro changing room and clashed with security and police.

The first video shows Carlos Izquierdoz and Marcos Rojo allegedly fighting with security:

With Boca players then videoed trying to get into the Mineiro dressing room:

One player then picked up a metal railing and attempted to throw it before he was actually stopped by his teammates, as things heated up:

Former Manchester United defender Rojo was involved again as he was spotted being stopped from using a fire extinguisher as the players clashed with police:

Later Minero player Savio took to social media to show off an injury he picked up during the ugly scenes:

According to reports, eight members of the Boca delegation were arrested, which included some directors, and the rest of the people in the delegation refused to leave until everyone was released.

It is believed they all went to the police station after the Argentina ambassador in Belo Horizonte intervened to stop the Argentina internationals involved from being detained.

Boca were involved in ugly scenes in the Copa Libertadores in 2018 when they met fierce rivals River Plate in the final.

Scenes outside River's stadium ahead of the second leg, which saw the Boca bus attacked on entry, led to the match having to be played at Real Madrid's Bernabeu.
