Jakub Błaszczykowski has left the Bundesliga for his boyhood club Wisla Krakow, effectively saving them from bankruptcy in the process.
With Wisla experiencing some serious financial difficulties the Polish winger is assisting the club financially, contributing around 1.3 million zloty (£300,000) of his own money to his former team so that outstanding wages can be paid. Wisla were able to get their league licence back as a result of his gesture.
It was initially thought that the 33-year old would not be given a wage but now that he's officially signed a six-month contract, it's emerged that instead he will be on five hundred zlotys (around £100) - the absolute minimum salary for a professional footballer.
However, he will use his wages so that orphans from a local children's home can attend Wisla games - yet another brilliant gesture from 'Kuba'.

At the start of January, Wolfsburg announced that they mutually agreed to terminate the player's contract with immediate effect and the 33-year old started training with Wisla back in his homeland.
And despite not being signed on properly yet, 12 years on from his last appearance in a Wisla shirt, Błaszczykowski made his big return.
He captained the side in a friendly against Garbarnia Kraków at the club's training base on a home pitch that looked more like something me or you would play on in Sunday League.
The two-time Bundesliga winner was playing his first game since November and so naturally he was eased into action, turning out for the first 45 minutes before being taken off at half-time by manager Maciej Stolarczyk.

Poland's record appearance maker will be officially presented as a Wisla player tomorrow and is in the squad for the league game against Gornik Zabrze on Monday.
