The PFA Team of The Year more or less picked itself, with Leicester and Spurs dominating proceedings and an overworked David De Gea serving between the sticks. When based on stats however, the best XI of the season looks incredibly different.
Whoscored.com have used their analysis to put together what, according to their stats, is the strongest XI of the season and there's no room for the likes of Harry Kane or Jamie Vardy, with Mesut Ozil and Dimitri Payet, a pair of midfielders, being rated as a better strike duo than two of the Premier League's top goal scorers.
Error prone Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes beats De Gea to the number one spot, while the much maligned Nicola Otamendi manages to creep in as one of the best (statistically) centre halves in England. Yes, we're just as baffled as you are.
