Following a lengthy spell on the sideline, Benjamin Mendy is back!

And he announced his return from injury in typically brilliant fashion on social media.

Mendy arrived at Manchester City in the summer following an incredible campaign with AS Monaco. But, unfortunately, he's been unable to feature much for Pep Guardiola this season after a serious knee injury. Just five games across all competitions.

Yet, after seven months out, the left-back finally returned to action on Friday night.

He played a full half for City's under-23. And with 45 minutes under his belt, he took to social media sharing an epic message.

"BREAKING : my loan to INJURY FC has officially ended today, and I'm back playing for. Man City. baby !! So happy :pray: thanks to all the staff & players that helped me through this looong time, and of course everyone in here. #SharkTeam We back !!!"

Mendy also spoke to the clubs website.

Naturally, he was delighted to kick a ball in a real game, and enjoyed his cameo.

"I feel good. It's a good feeling to touch the ball in a real game. Against United is a good game for my first game back after my injury," he said.

Mendy added: "We are football players so we know we can have a lot of injuries. I've had one before [long-term injury] but now it's OK.

"For my first game, my body felt good and my knee. I played and I enjoyed it."

Good to have you back, Benjamin.

Will Guardiola squeeze in a game for him before the end of the season?
