Ben Askren has finally fired back at Jorge Masvidal, telling him, "I made you famous".

At UFC 239, Masvidal knocked out Ben Askren with a stunning flying knee in a record-setting five seconds after practicing the maneuver just 48 hours before the welterweight encounter.

The highlight reel KO propelled Masvidal to stardom but brought about Askren's demise.

The former Bellator and ONE Championship fighter would then lose in UFC for a second time against Demian Maia and ended up retiring after the submission defeat.

And two years on, a frustrated Askren replied to Masvidal saying 'Funky' "does not represent MMA" by calling the knockout "the luckiest knee of your life" and bringing up his loss to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman - who he rematches next month.

"I've refrained for 2 years, but let's be real Jorge," Askren wrote.

"You landed the luckiest knee of your life and I made you famous. You're welcome. You got 50-43'd by Usman and will likely again next month. Beat it loser."

Askren's outburst comes after his press conference with Jake Paul, who Face-Timed Masvidal to troll him ahead of their boxing bout on April 17.

2-0 professional boxer Paul has been training with Masvidal as he bids to knock out Askren in four seconds - even quicker than the 36-year-old did.

Askren has seen the funny side in regards to his knockout defeat to Masvidal, poking fun at himself when Diego Sanchez did a poor imitation of the sequence at UFC 235 against Jake Matthews.
