Bayern Munich Troll Themselves After Drawing Chelsea In Champions League Last 16

Bayern and Chelsea will play out a repeat of the Champions League final from 2012...

Bayern Munich have trolled themselves on Twitter after drawing Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16.

The German side were the only team to get maximum points from their six group games and will now take on the Blues in the next stage.

As we know there's a whole lot of history between the clubs; history that Bayern would rather forget.

In order to avoid memories of their infamous penalty shoot-out defeat in the 2012 Champions League final on their own patch at the Allianz Arena, the Bavarians have taken some drastic steps on social media.

They've muted the words '2012' and 'Drogba' and being honest, it's probably for the best.

Things is, there was no way on earth that Chelsea fans weren't going to start harking back to their biggest ever triumph in European football seven years ago.

For Bayern, it's a final that they would like to erase from history. They battered Chelsea, missed a penalty through Arjen Robben and conceded a last minute header from Didier Drogba, who cemented his legendary status by scoring the decisive kick from 12 yards.

Frank Lampard, now current Chelsea manager of course, will be hoping Bayern have flashbacks of that evening but at the same time he'll be quick to focus on the here and now as opposed to dwelling on the past too much.

While Bayern have been scintillating in the Champions League this term, inspired by the ridiculously clinical finishing from Robert Lewandowski, their league form hasn't been great at all.

They are currently fifth in the table on 27 points from 15 games.
