Bastian Schweinsteiger's Manchester United Resurgence Goes Up Another Gear

What a turnaround for the German.

At the start of the season, Bastian Schweinsteiger was surplus from requirements at Manchester United and was forced to train with the club's U23 side by Jose Mourinho, who did not see him as part of his plans.

But over the last couple of months, things have been on an upward spiral for the former Bayern Munich man.

He was then brought back into the first-team fold at United, making a substitute appearance in the club's EFL Cup quarter final win over West Ham at Old Trafford.

The German was then further rewarded for his professionalism and work ethic with a start against Wigan in the FA Cup last week, with Schweinsteiger scoring the final goal in what was his first start for over a year.

And now Schweinsteiger's resurgence continues, with the 32-year old now named in United's Europa League squad for the rest of the campaign.

Despite not actually spending that long, Schweinsteiger has firmly established himself as a fan favourite and it's safe to say that news of his inclusion in the Europa League squad went down well with supporters.

Congratulations, Basti.

He's no Xabi Alonso, but Schweinsteiger is certainly an extremely cool footballer.
