Bare Knuckle Fighting Promoter 'Betting On' Conor McGregor Showing Up For Malignaggi-Lobov Fight
Don't be surprised to see Conor McGregor in Tampa Florida for the Bare Knuckle Fight between his teammate Artem Lobov and former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi this weekend.
That's the suggestion from BKFC president David Feldman, who is pretty confident that 'The Notorious' will be there to support his friend for his second scrap in the promotion.
"They won't give confirmation yet but if I'm a betting man, I'm betting he's coming," Feldman said, as per MMA Fighting.
"They're not going to give confirmation and if they are, they're not going to tell us so we put it out there 'hey Conor McGregor's coming to the fight' and then he's mobbed."
"So it's not going to happen like that but from the conversations I'm having, if I was going to bet on it, he'll be there but who knows."
McGregor is a frequent supporter of those in his team and when you throw in the fact he has serious beef with Malignaggi over the sparring footage released when he trained for his fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2017, it seems pretty inevitable that the Irishman will be in town.
Malignaggi who won world titles at super lightweight and welterweight, retired in 2017 but is now embarking on a new venture with the growing MMA promotion.
He signed an exclusive deal in March and a fight with Russian Lobov was on the cards straight away. The two went face-to-face last month and things got seriously heated, with Malignaggi attempting to hit the UFC fighter with a microphone on his head as well as spitting at his opponent.
Saturday's fight at BKFC 6 promises to be an absolute war and when you throw McGregor into the mix, you have a recipe for madness just waiting to be cooked up.
In fact, it's not out of the realms of possibility that McGregor ends up facing Malignaggi under the BKFC banner, according to Michael Benson.
