Barcelona reportedly have an agreement in place to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on a free transfer in the summer.

The Argentine striker's contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in June and it's looking increasingly unlikely that he will be extending his stay with the club.

Aguero has been plagued by injuries in recent times and scored his first Premier League goal for 14 months from the spot in a 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday night.

He captained the side and played the full 90 minutes at Craven Cottage in what was just his eighth league appearance of the campaign.

And according to AS, Barcelona are "very close" to bringing the 32-year-old back to La Liga.

It's said that new Barcelona president Joan Laporta is advocating a two-year contract for Aguero and that the only reason the deal has not been signed is because Carles Tusquets is still in charge in an interim capacity.

Hernan Reguera, who represents Aguero, offered his client to all three of Barcelona's presidential candidates.

A move for Aguero could persuade Barcelona captain and talisman Lionel Messi to stay put at the Camp Nou. The two are long-time friends from spending time together in the Argentina youth ranks many years back.

Aguero responded to rumours surrounding his future and links to Barcelona on his official Twitch channel, saying: "They are all writing Barca, Barca, Barca.

"Let's hold on a little, have a look. Stop. We are still with City."

After scoring 101 goals in 234 games for Atletico Madrid, a 23-year-old Aguero signed for City in a £38 million deal in 2011 and has gone on to become one of the best strikers in Premier League history.

He's the club's all-time top scorer with 257 goals and has won 13 trophies, including four Premier League titles.

Manager Pep Guardiola hailed the City No.10 after he found the net in the league for the first time in 417 days last night.

"Of course, if everyone wants to jump inside the bus they are more than welcome," Guardiola said, as per the Daily Mail.

"Of course it's so important his goal and he played 90 minutes for the first time in a long time, he moved really well against a tough, tough side.

"They followed him almost man-to-man when he dropped. It was not easy, but we were patient and especially solid in behind, defending really well, not conceding."
