Barcelona fans have made it clear that there is one standout player who the Spanish club should make as their next big signing.

Mundo Deportivo's poll attracted 46,716 voters after asking users to vote from a selection of 20 players.

From Atlético Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski to Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Barça fans voted overwhelmingly for one player.

Kylian Mbappé won by a landslide after he took home 48 per cent of the vote, with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane finishing second with 14 per cent.

No other player received over ten per cent, with one of Mbappé's Paris Saint-Germain teammates, Edinson Cavani, picking up one per cent of the vote.

Neymar, who became the most expensive player in history after he completed his move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017, only picked up four per cent of the vote.

Mbappé, who won France Football's inaugural Kopa Trophy in 2018, has been in scintillating form for his club this season.

Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger recently compared the 20-year-old World Cup-winning Frenchman to a certain Brazilian legend.

"When I saw him the first time in the first period, I said: 'It's Pelé,'" he told CNN. "He has a combination of pace, intelligence, relaxed attitude to deal with stress. You cannot give that to people.

"It looks like all the ingredients are there. Now for him, it's how much does he continue to improve and how much can he keep a rigorous attitude to think: 'Okay, where do I go from there.'

"When a guy is a world champion at 20 years of age, has won championships -- two or three already -- what can you say?

"And the numbers don't lie. He's an exceptional football player and France is gifted to have him."

Earlier this month, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed that the reigning La Liga champions are already preparing for life without Lionel Messi.

In fact, Barça have already started that process by signing Frenkie de Jong from Ajax last month for a reported fee of £65m.

If Barcelona did end up signing Mbappé, then it would be one hell of a statement from the club.

Should Barcelona make Mbappé their next big signing? If not, who should it be?
