On Wednesday night, Luka Modric almost ripped Lionel Messi's shirt off in the second half of the Copa Del Rey semi final second leg, throwing him to the ground and giving away a needless free-kick from 40 yards out.
Straight away a slew of memes emerged, with Twitter well and truly doing its thing.

But the best post of all arrived on Barcelona's official Twitter account as the Blaugrana's admin used that brilliant image of Modric tugging Messi's shirt to promote the sale of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's jerseys on the official website.

The numbers on the tweet are crazy and you have to say it's pretty genius marketing.

Modric will have another chance to get Messi's shirt tomorrow as we are treated to the third El Clasico in 25 days.
In January, Messi produced a touching gesture to Getafe player Jaime Mata when the Barcelona skipper swapped shirts with him.

The former Real Valladolid star, who scored his side's goal in the 2-1 loss, revealed that he had asked Messi for the shirt swap, as well as enjoying a hug with the Barcelona captain.
"It was an honour to get Messi's jersey," he told Diario AS.
"It's an honour to play against the best player in the world and it's a good thing to be able to share the field with him."
