A Barcelona presidential candidate claims to have sealed a deal for Borussia Dortmund hot-shot Erling Haaland.

Barca are on the hunt after Josep Maria Bartomeu finally resigned from his post in October and the elections will take place on January 24.

The actual campaign will run from January 15 until January 22, with club members having their say on who will take up the position for a six-year period.

There are a total of 10 candidates in the mix and one of them, Emili Rousaud, has apparently secured the services of one of the most exciting players in world football in 20-year-old goal machine Haaland.

His advisor says the deal is as good as done should Rousaud win the election, while moves have been made for Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe, who is out of contract in the summer.

We know all the conditions and if we win, the following day I will call Mino Raiola and we will accept those conditions," Josep Maria Minguella told AS regarding Haaland.

"I have already advised him of that."

On the subject of Mbappe, he added: "It is a little more complicated because his contract ends the next year. Although, we are on top of the issue and movements have already been made. We are there."

Haaland has developed into one of the deadliest strikers around, scoring 33 goals in 32 games for Dortmund in 2020 after moving from Red Bull Salzburg.

Courted by a number of leading clubs, he has a release clause of €75 million in his contract but it cannot be activated until 2022.

Rousaud has also pledged to name the Nou Camp after Barcelona captain and all-time leading goalscorer Lionel Messi if he ends up as president for a six year term.

According to Marca, he said: "We will hold a referendum to change the name of the stadium to Camp Nou - Leo Messi."

Napoli recently named their stadium in honour of the legendary Diego Maradona after his passing.
