He may be struggling to reverse Arsenal's fortunes when it comes to ending their 13 year barren run without a Premier League title, but that hasn't stopped Arsene Wenger from turning down a monstrous offer to leave the Gunners for the Chinese Super League.

The Frenchman, who is under pressure after a recent 5-1 Champions League drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich and a convincing defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, was offered £30m to move to the Orient instead of completing the season at the Emirates Stadium.

The deal would have almost quadrupled Wenger's current salary in North London and been double that of Pep Guardiola, who was made the world's highest paid coach when he took over at Manchester City last year on a £15m-a-year deal.

The club involved in the deal have not been named, however.

Wenger's current deal with the Gunners expires in the Summer and, in a recent press conference, the long serving Arsenal boss revealed that he would be managing somewhere next season, although couldn't confirm whether or not that would be with Arsenal or elsewhere.

With just two FA Cups to celebrate in 13 years, large sections of Arsenal's support have turned against Wenger with increasing regularity over the past few seasons, with 'Wenger Out' banners becoming more and more prevalent at home and away games.

The favourite to take over from Wenger is believed to be Thomas Tuchel, altough the German has endured a difficult second season at Borussia Dortmund and may no longer be seen as the best fit to take over from the Arsenal boss.

Other managers in the frame to succeed Wenger include Juventus' Max Allegri, who is currently on course to lead the Italian champions to a sixth successive Serie A title and may opt for a new challenge at the end of the season.

Of course, Wenger could yet stay on at the Emirates and, given how the Arsenal board have stood by him in recent years, it wouldn't be surprising to see the 67-year-old rewarded with a new deal.
