A few months ago, Arsenal fans were hit with a familiar feeling of dread when news broke in Spain that star playmaker Mesut Ozil was stalling contract talks amid interest from Barcelona. Fast forward a few months, though and the German assist king looks set to commit his future to the Gunners.
Ozil's current deal is set to expire in 2018 but a new deal is now set to be offered, with the former Real Madrid man finally open to negotiations on a bumper contract that should see him earn a significant pay rise.

Talking to The Express, Ozil said, "I have a contract until 2018. We have had discussions, but they were suspended for the European Championship. I wanted to focus at this time only on the national team. Now we look to continue the negotiations."

The news will come as a welcome relief to Arsenal fans, who have become accustomed to losing star players in recent years.
