Arsenal Fan's Parents Accidentally Bought Him An 'Al-Qaeda' Flag

Arsenal Fan's Parents Accidentally Bought Him An 'Al-Qaeda' Flag

The flag was bought from Walmart but it definitely wasn't the one they meant.

An Arsenal fan ended up with an al-Qaeda flag instead of one marking his support for the North London side.

In a Reddit post that is circulating online, user 'Elesh_N' uploaded a photo that his friend had sent him on Snapchat.

It was a picture of the flag hung up on the wall of a bedroom. The banner contained the Arsenal crest but also featured the words 'Al Qaeda' - the name of the Islamic terrorist organisation founded in 1988.

The caption read: "My parents thought they got my brother an Arsenal flag."

The flag is said to have been purchased from Walmart, where they are a number of third party sellers. The parents appear to have been duped big-time here as the flag they ordered is definitely not the one they were expecting and hoping for.

Ironically, the founder of the extremist group, Osama bin Laden is believed to have been an Arsenal supporter.

It's said that he developed a love for the Gunners during a recruitment trip in 1994 and was even in the famous Clock End terrace to for Arsenal's wins over Paris St. Germain and Torino in the European Cup Winners' Cup in the quarter finals and semi-finals.

Apparently, as per Bleacher Report, bin Laden even bought an Ian Wright replica Arsenal shirt for his son, such was his fandom.

However, as soon as Arsenal became aware of this, they were quick to dismiss any association.

In 2001, a club spokesman said: "We've seen the reports in the papers. Clearly he wouldn't be welcome at Highbury in the future."

Astoundingly, there is a player called 'Osama VinLaden' who plays in the Peruvian second tier, with his brother named Saddam Hussein - after the disgraced former president of Iraq who was executed in 2006.

If that's not bad enough, the father wanted to name the third child 'George Bush', the 41st president of the United States.
