Arjen Robben Linked With Bizarre Move Away From Bayern

This would be a rather strange one for the Dutchman.

Even at 33-years-old, Arjen Robben has showed no signs of slowing down.

The Dutchman scored 15 goals and registered nine assists in all competitions for Bayern last season, and was again an integral part of yet another Bundesliga title win for the Bavarian giants.

It almost seems as though Robben has got better with age; his lightning quick speed has certainly not disappeared and his innate ability to cut in from the right on his wand of a left peg is ever present.

His importance to Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern side cannot be understated, yet that hasn't quashed talk of a move away.

Outlets in Turkey, notably Sporx, are reporting that Fenerbahce are seriously interested in signing the former Real Madrid and Chelsea winger, with chairman Aziz Yildirim hellbent on acquiring a marquee signing to boost shirt sales and attract fans.

Robin van Persie was drafted in two years back and Fenerbahce hope to strike a deal to land his Netherlands colleague Robben.

Robben, whose contract at the Allianz Arena expires in June 2018 recently admitted that retirement is not too far away for him, and spoke of his interest in returning to Groningen, where he came through the ranks before making the step up to the first team, in some capacity.

"I am approaching the end of my career, that is the reality," he told Kicker via Squawka.

"More and more, I am starting to look forward to whatever is coming my way after my career. I am very relaxed, I am not worried too much about what will happen in 2018. I am just focusing on the here and now.

"The one thing I know for sure is that I will return to Netherlands after my career, to Groningen. I still have close ties with my boyhood club. I might be able to do something there."
