After being sacked by Chelsea over a week ago, it appears Antonio Conte is set for an immediate return to management.

Chelsea ditched Conte who bagged the Premier League title in his debut season, not to mention claiming silverware last season in the shape of the FA Cup.

But after falling out with the board, Chelsea replaced Conte with fellow Italian Maurizio Sarri.

However, a swift return to management is on the cards.

According to reports in Italy, Conte is being lined up by AC Milan to replace Gennaro Gattuso.

Gattuso, who donned the famous Rossoneri shirt between 1999 to 2012, was appointed AC Milan manager in November 2017.

He guided his side to a sixth place finish in the 2017/18 campaign, securing European football.

Though it looks like AC Milan are set to show their former player the exit door as they lure in Conte.

The 43-year-old has managed five teams in Italy. Most notably Juventus where he famously won three Scudetto titles during his three year reign.

AC Milan are under new investment through American company Elliott Management, and a shake up is expected with some major additions including a new manager with their eyes on the ex-Italy and Chelsea boss.
