Antonio Conte Has Made A Bold Claim About David Luiz

When it comes to the art of defending, there may be no manager more well versed in the modern game than Antonio Conte. Despite this, the former Juventus and Italy manager has us concerned with his latest comments about David Luiz.

Luiz made a surprising £38m return to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day, just two years after leaving Chelsea for Paris Saint-Germain in a £50m deal. It wasn't exactly a signing that inspired confidence among Blues' fans, with Luiz famously having a reputation for being erratic and error prone.

Despite Luiz's well documented shortcomings, Conte has been singing the Brazilian's praises and we can't help but think that he's gone a little overboard, comparing the former PSG man to the likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli.

"I think [Luiz's] qualities are a little similar to both Bonucci and Barzagli."

"He has good technique and personality like Leonardo Bonucci, Bonucci likes to play football. Also, I find him competitive like Barzagli."

We can't imagine too many people would make the same comparisons, but if there is one manager who can turn David Luiz from a defender with the positional sense of a pissed toddler to a world class centre half, it's Antonio Conte.
