In case you were living under a rock, Manchester United won the Europa League last night courtesy of a 2-0 win over Ajax in Stockholm.

Paul Pogba opened the scoring in the 18th minute via a strike that deflected off Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez outside of the box after an impressive start.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled United's advantage with a slick finish from a corner-kick in the second half and that was enough to beat Peter Bosz's talented, but inexperienced Ajax, who lacked invention and never looked like breaching the United backline.

Jose Mourinho got his tactics bang on the money, and frustrated Ajax''s youthful side.

Ajax fielded the youngest ever side in a European final, with the average age at a tender 22 years, and 282 days.

And for all the promise and possession Ajax had last night at the Friends Arena, they barely threatened Sergio Romero's goal and United were comfortable throughout.

A section of angry Ajax fans behind the goal were so irate with the result and the disappointing performance their players produced, that they proceeded to rip up seats and hurl them in the direction of their own players as they applauded the supporters at the end of the game.

Not what you want to see at all.

Meanwhile Ajax manager Peter Bosz' was unsurprisingly not happy with his team and the manner in which they were beaten. He also aimed a dig at United's tactics and branded the final a "boring game".

Speaking in his post-match presser, he said:

"I'm disappointed because you play finals to win them. We didn't.

"I haven't seen the Ajax that I'm used to, which means good football, high pressing and being dominant.

"High pressing was difficult because Man United only played long balls and didn't take any risks in the build-up. I think it was a boring game. There were no chances from both sides."

On the other hand, Jose Mourinho was clearly not bothered in the way trophy was won when he spoke to the media after the game.

He had a few words to say on Ajax's approach not paying dividends:

The 54-year old also made a bit of managerial history with the success in Stockholm.

The win means that Mourinho is the first manager to win the Champions League as well as the UEFA Cup/Europa League - on multiple occasions, with different club sides.
