Angelino has claimed that Pep Guardiola didn't offer him the real opportunity to shine at Manchester City and instead "killed me and my self-confidence."

The 24-year-old Spaniard started his professional playing career at City and was loaned out to multiple clubs, including New York City and Real Mallorca.

Angelino left City in 2018 and signed for PSV Eindhoven as he impressed during his single season at the Dutch club.

City triggered his buy-back clause in 2019, but Angelino only managed six appearances in his second spell before he was loaned out to RB Leipzig.

Angelino excelled once again at Leipzig as the German club made his move away from City permeant earlier this month.

The former City left-back has now pulled no punches towards Guardiola as he argued that he didn't have a "real chance" to shine under him.

Angelino told reporters: "Pep has killed me and my self-confidence.

"After my move from Eindhoven back to City, he had already judged me on two pre-season games and then didn't give me a real chance again.

"So, I was happy that I moved to Leipzig and that I am now an integral part of the club."

Angelino continued to blast Guardiola by saying that Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann had 'trust in him from day one.'

When asked about the difference between Nagelsmann and Guardiola, the Leipzig star said: "One of them gave me confidence and let me play. The other one just didn't.

"In Leipzig, I felt trust from day one. The club and the coach gave me an incredible push.

"I am now happy to be able to play consistently in Leipzig."
