Andres Iniesta epitomises everything that FC Barcelona but the association between the two could be coming to and in the summer, if reports are to be believed.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Inter Milan, who are somehow continually linked with some of the world's best players despite being lurched into mediocrity for a couple of years, have opened talks about a potential deal for Iniesta.

It's noted by the Italian newspaper that although the main purpose of the reported meeting between Inter official Piero Ausilio met and Barcelona's Ariedo Braida was to talk through the possible transfer of out-of-favour Barca right-back Aleix Vidal, the availability of Iniesta was also discussed.

The 33-year old, who only made 13 league starts last season as a result of niggling injuries, has one year remaining on his current deal at the Nou Camp and there is yet to be any movement on an improved extension at the time of writing.

And that's why Inter have made the enquiry about the La Masia youth product, as new boss Luciano Spalletti looks for technically gifted and inventive players for the forthcoming season.

Iniesta is widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted players ever to play the game and has won absolutely everything at club level with his beloved Barca, including eight league titles, five Copa Del Reys and four Champions League.

It's hard to see him not plying his trade at Barcelona, but then again stranger things have happened.
