Now he's emphatically proven the 'one season wonder' doubters wrong with another stunning season in front of goal, Harry Kane is drawing plaudits from the biggest names in football, with Andrea Pirlo the latest player to give the Spurs vice-captain his seal of approval.
Speaking to Shortlist, the former Juve and AC Milan metronome tipped Kane for a "big career" after an impressive last season and a half at White Hart Lane, where he has established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League.
Everybody has heard of Harry Kane over this last year. If he carries on playing the way he has been, I am sure it is going to be a big career.
Also in the interview, everyone's favourite footballer and part time wine connoisseur explained why he doesn't get nervous before games and his answer is as relaxed as one of his 60 yard through balls.
"It's obviously not that I don't care, I just think nerves and pressure are a waste of energy."
And let's face it, who has time for nerves and pressure?
