Alvaro Morata Misses Horrendously From Seven Yards Out Against Atalanta

Alvaro Morata had the simplest of tasks but got it horribly wrong.

Alvaro Morata produced a truly inexplicable miss for Juventus against Atalanta this evening.

In the first half of the 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium, the Spaniard was played through on goal and laid it on a plate for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The ball ricocheted back to him as Ronaldo tried to play the one-two and Morata had the simplest of tasks. With an open goal and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on the deck, all he had to was to swivel and tuck his effort away.

But he over-complicated it massively and did his best impression of Mario Balotelli's infamous backheel fluff in that a 2011 friendly.

His shambolic effort from roughly seven yards out was way wide of the mark and saw the ball roll out of play for an Atalanta goal kick

Luckily for Morata, his blushes were spared somewhat because the offside flag went up but we're still wondering how he managed to get it so wrong from such an easy chance.

Juventus went 1-0 through Federico Chiesa in the 29th minute but the visitors equalised when Remo Freuler fired a superb strike into the top corner from outside the box.

Chiesa then won a second-half penalty for the Serie A champions but Ronaldo saw his effort saved by Gollini, who guessed right and held onto the ball.
