Alexis Sanchez's Injury Update Could Be Worrying For Arsenal

Chilean injured his ankle during Copa America final

It wouldn't be an Arsenal pre-season if Arsene Wenger didn't have an innumerable amount of injury problems to worry about and the fitness problem that may be causing the Gunners manager the most concern is Alexis Sanchez's ankle injury.

Sanchez picked up the knock during Chile's Copa America Centenario final victory over Argentina and isn't expected to return in time for Arsenal's first Premier League game of the season, at home to Liverpool. However, if the former Barcelona man's latest Instagram update is anything to go by, his recovery is proving to be a slower process than Arsenal fans would like.

The caption beneath the picture translates as "After a long day, continuing my recovery" which suggests the forward's rehabilitation from injury is proving to be a laborious process. Considering how much Arsenal missed Sanchez when he was unavailable through injury last season, they will be concerned about the Chilean's fitness levels and speed of recovery heading into the new campaign.

With Manchester City, United and Chelsea all looking stronger already, Arsene Wenger can't afford another injury blighted season.
