AC Milan are not messing about with their recruitment ahead of their return to European football.

The San Siro club finished in sixth place in Serie A last season, thus earning a place in next season's Europa League.

But Vincenzo Montella and the Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux are fully aware that in order to bring the club back up to the level it was on back in the day, a number of big signings are needed and Milan have acted swiftly in their dealings so far.

Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio was the first to sign, while the club also beat a number of top European clubs to secure the signature of in-demand Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie.

A third signing was wrapped up imminently, with Swiss left-back Ricardo Rodriguez, previously linked with a move to the Premier League, joining the club from German side Wolfsburg.

Then came the most high-profile deal, as for a fee believed to in the region of €38m, Milan have grabbed themselves a bargain in the highly rated Porto striker Andrè Silva, who has been tipped for superstardom by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Who is next on the agenda, then?

According to reports today, Milan's next top target is Turkey midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

German outlet Revier say that a deal is close to being reached for a fee of €20-30 million euros.

Di Marzio however is reporting that although the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, who was hit with with a four month ban from football for a 'breach of contract' in February, is a top target, contact has only just been made.

What a signing he'd be for Milan, who really do look like they mean business going into next season.
