Football Association of Iceland confirmed the remarkable viewing figures by posting on Twitter.

The remaining 0.4% were playing the game...

Iceland opened their World Cup campaign with a heroic draw against two-time winners Argentina on Saturday with the country continuing to do their nation proud on the international stage.

After making their first major international appearance at the 2016 European Championships, Iceland officially debuted at the World Cup, taking a point.

And the Scandinavian minnows had to come from behind after Sergio Aguero bagged his first World Cup goal to give his side an early lead.

Alfred Finnbogason eventually leveled to share the points. He also reacted to the 99.6% of Iceland's population watching him score.

Iceland resume their Russian venture against Nigeria on Friday, before facing Croatia.
