54 Per Cent Of France Supporters Want Premier League Flop At World Cup

What are they thinking?!

France are one on the leading contenders to win the World Cup, with Didier Deschamps having a wealth of options at his disposal.

They should have won the Euros on home soil two years ago but with the emergence of the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar, Ousmane Dembele and the rest, Les Bleus are even stronger.

Given the sheer depth of talent within the France national team set-up, Deschamps has a number of difficult decisions to make in terms of the players he selects for the showpiece in Russia.

Whatever happens, the reality is some high-quality players will not be on the plane. But who will be there and who will not?

In a poll ran by RMC Sport, French supporters have been voting onwho they want to be part of Deschamps' 23-man squad when June rolls around. But there have been a string of surprises.

For starters, 47 per cent would bring Andre-Pierre Gignac, the former Marseille striker now playing in Mexico, back into the fold for the World Cup.

In addition to that, 55 per cent want a recall for Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho, while fans are not in favour for Layvin Kurzawa to make the cut.

But, undoubtedly the biggest surprise is that a staggering 54 per cent want Spurs winger Moussa Sissoko to be part of the travelling party.

The former Newcastle man really hasn't got going in North London, signing on the back of Euro 2016 but struggling to nail down a starting spot.

There's about ten players in his position that are far better and more deserving to go the World Cup than Sissoko but clearly the French feel he's worthy of a spot.

France's squad depth is so good that they can effectively name three teams that would probably all beat England - though Sissoko is nowhere to be seen.

Should Sissoko go the World Cup as a squad player or should he be right at the back of the line?
