Manchester United's Fred Produced An Outrageous Assist For Neymar In Brazil Rout

Fred played a pass Lionel Messi would have been proud of in Brazil's 4-1 win over Uruguay.

Manchester United midfielder Fred produced an outrageous assist for Neymar in Brazil's 4-1 win over Uruguay in the early hours of Friday.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has received a lot of criticism from fans in recent times for his displays.

In United's 1-1 draw with Everton, Fred was culpable for Andros Townsend's equaliser after he was completely bodied by Demarai Gray on the halfway line.

A regular sticking point with Fred has been his lack of forward passing from central midfield but that wasn't the case for Brazil's opener.

Playing a bit further forward in midfield with Fabinho behind him, he threaded through a scrumptious pass that was weighted perfectly for Neymar.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar's run was timed to perfection and after touching the ball down, he rounded the goalkeeper and squeezed the ball in to move onto 70 goals for the Selecao.

But it was all about the pass from Fred, who produced a passage of play that Lionel Messi would have been proud of.

United fans on Twitter were almost in disbelief that Fred, who has struggled to make five yard passes on occasion, turned into a master playmaker for a moment.

Fred played 88 minutes in the comprehensive victory and because of the travel and scheduling, will not be involved for United in their 3pm kick-off against Leicester City on Saturday.

But after his first assist of the season, United fans will be hoping the 28-year-old continues in the same vein over the next few weeks.
